Welcome to Your Bible! This guide will walk you through creating an account and using the core features of the application.

Getting started

Sign up or sign in

Visit the Your Bible application and create a new account or sign in with your existing credentials.
  • Click Sign In in the header
  • Enter your email and password
  • For new users, click Sign Up to create an account
Authentication is powered by Better Auth, providing secure email-based authentication. Some features like collections, notes, and AI stories require you to be signed in.

Select a Bible translation

Choose your preferred Bible translation to start reading.
  1. Click the Bible translation dropdown (e.g., “King James Version”)
  2. Search or scroll through available translations
  3. Select your preferred version
The application integrates with API.Bible to provide multiple translations in various languages.
Try different translations to compare how verses are rendered. Popular options include KJV, NIV, ESV, and many more.

Read your first chapter

Navigate to a book and chapter to start reading scripture.
  1. Click the book dropdown and select a book (e.g., “Genesis”)
  2. Select a chapter number from the dropdown
  3. Read through the chapter content
  4. Use the Previous and Next buttons to navigate between chapters
You can click on verse references to highlight specific verses with smooth scrolling.

Create your first collection

Save meaningful verses to a personal collection for easy access later.
  1. While reading, click the bookmark icon next to a verse
  2. In the dialog, click Create New Collection
  3. Give your collection a name (e.g., “Favorite Verses” or “Comfort & Peace”)
  4. Add the verse to your new collection
Collections help you organize verses by theme, topic, or personal significance.
You must be signed in to create and manage collections.

Take your first note

Capture your thoughts and insights about a chapter using the rich text notes feature.
  1. Navigate to any Bible chapter
  2. Click Open Notes to reveal the notes panel
  3. Use the rich text editor to write your thoughts
  4. Format your text with bold, italic, lists, and more
  5. Your notes auto-save as you type
On desktop, notes appear side-by-side with the Bible text for an integrated study experience.
The notes editor is powered by Plate.js, providing a full-featured rich text editing experience.

Try the search feature

Search across the entire Bible to find verses containing specific words or phrases.
  1. Navigate to the Search page
  2. Select a Bible translation
  3. Enter search terms (e.g., “love”, “hope”, “faith”)
  4. Browse through paginated results
  5. Click verse references to view them in context
Search results highlight your query terms for easy identification.
You can add verses directly from search results to your collections!

Generate an AI story (optional)

Create a creative narrative based on a biblical passage using AI.
  1. Navigate to the Stories section
  2. Click Create Story
  3. Select a Bible translation and chapter
  4. Fill in the story parameters:
    • Title: Give your story a name
    • Perspective: Choose narrative viewpoint (e.g., “first-person observer”)
    • Setting: Describe the context or setting
    • Tone: Specify emotional tone (e.g., “contemplative”, “adventurous”)
    • Length: Choose short, medium, or long
  5. Click Generate Story and wait for the AI to create your narrative
  6. View your story alongside the original biblical text
Story generation uses Google Gemini AI and is rate-limited to manage API costs. Please use this feature thoughtfully.
AI stories are designed to explore creative perspectives while adhering to theological guidelines. They complement but don’t replace traditional Bible study.
