Understanding Search Results

Result Display

Search results show:
  • Verse reference - The book, chapter, and verse number
  • Verse text - The complete verse content with your search terms highlighted
  • Context - Surrounding text to help you understand the verse in context

Highlighted Search Terms

Your search terms are automatically highlighted in the results for easy identification:
  • Search terms appear in a distinct color or style
  • Multiple occurrences in the same verse are all highlighted
  • Highlighting helps you quickly scan results to find relevant passages

Search Example

Searching for “faith” will highlight every occurrence of “faith” in the verse text, making it easy to see why each result matched your query.

Pagination

Search results are organized into pages for easy browsing:
  • Results count - See the total number of verses found
  • Current page indicator - Know which page you’re viewing
  • Next/Previous buttons - Navigate through result pages
  • Page numbers - Jump directly to a specific page

Results Per Page

Search results are displayed in manageable groups:
  • Each page shows a set number of results (typically 10-20 verses)
  • The current offset and total count are displayed
  • Load times are optimized even for searches with hundreds of results
Large result sets (e.g., searching for common words like “the” or “and”) may take a moment to load. Consider using more specific search terms for faster results.
Every search result is linked to its full chapter context:
1

Click Any Verse Reference

Click on the verse reference (e.g., “John 3:16”) in your search results.
2

View in Context

You’ll be taken to the Bible reading page showing the full chapter.
3

See Highlighted Verse

The specific verse from your search will be automatically highlighted and scrolled into view.
This makes it easy to:
  • Read the verse in its surrounding context
  • Understand the broader narrative or teaching
  • Continue reading from that point
  • Add the verse to a collection or take notes
