The Bible Reading feature provides a modern, user-friendly interface for reading Scripture across multiple translations with seamless navigation and verse highlighting.

Multiple Bible Translations

Access various Bible versions powered by API.Bible integration:
1

Select a Translation

Click on the Bible translation dropdown at the top of the reading interface. A searchable list of available translations will appear.
2

Search or Browse

Type to search for a specific translation (e.g., “KJV”, “NIV”, “ESV”) or scroll through the available options.
3

Switch Translations

Select your preferred translation. The current chapter will automatically reload in the selected version.
Your selected translation is preserved in the URL, making it easy to bookmark or share specific passages in your preferred version.

Chapter Navigation

Navigate through the Bible with intuitive controls:

Using Navigation Arrows

The chapter navigation provides left and right arrow buttons:
  • Left Arrow: Navigate to the previous chapter
  • Right Arrow: Navigate to the next chapter
Navigation arrows automatically disable when you reach the beginning or end of the Bible.

Book and Chapter Selection

Beyond arrow navigation, you can:
  1. Jump to any book using the book selector
  2. Select a specific chapter from the chapter list
  3. Use URL parameters to link directly to any passage
Chapter navigation respects the structure of your selected Bible translation, as different versions may organize books and chapters differently.

Verse Highlighting

Highlight specific verses for focused study:

Automatic Highlighting

When you:
  • Click a verse reference from search results
  • Navigate from a collection
  • Use a URL with a verse parameter (e.g., ?verse=JHN.3.16)
The page will automatically:
  1. Scroll to the verse
  2. Highlight it for easy identification
  3. Keep it in focus on the screen

Linking to Verses

Share or bookmark specific verses by using verse references in your URL. The format follows the pattern:
/bible?bible=BIBLE_ID&chapter=CHAPTER_ID&verse=VERSE_ID

Example

Navigate to John 3:16 in the King James Version: /bible?bible=de4e12af7f28f599-02&chapter=JHN.3&verse=JHN.3.16
