Collections allow you to organize and save Bible verses that are meaningful to you. Create themed collections, build study lists, or compile verses for specific purposes.
Collections are a user-specific feature. You must be signed in to create and manage collections.

Collection Ideas

  • Thematic collections: Verses about love, hope, faith, etc.
  • Study collections: Passages for a specific Bible study
  • Memorization lists: Verses you’re working to memorize
  • Event preparation: Scripture for weddings, funerals, or holidays
  • Personal encouragement: Verses that speak to your current season

Adding Verses to Collections

You can add verses to your collections from multiple places in the application:

From Bible Reading

While reading any chapter:
1

Find Your Verse

Navigate to the chapter containing the verse you want to save.
2

Click Add Button

Click the add/bookmark icon next to the verse.
3

Select Collection

A dialog appears showing your collections. Choose which collection to add the verse to.
4

Confirm

The verse is added immediately with its full text, reference, and Bible version.

From Search Results

When searching for verses:
1

Execute Search

Search for keywords or phrases to find relevant verses.
2

Add from Results

Click the add button next to any verse in the search results.
3

Choose Collection

Select the collection where you want to store the verse.
When adding a verse, the complete verse text, reference (book, chapter, verse), and Bible translation ID are all saved. This ensures you can always view the verse in its original translation.

Viewing Collections

Access and read your saved verses:

Collection List

The Collections page displays:
  • Collection name - The title you gave the collection
  • Verse count - How many verses are saved in each collection
  • Creation date - When you created the collection

Click on any collection to view its contents:
  • Full verse text - The complete Scripture text you saved
  • Verse reference - Book, chapter, and verse number
  • Link to context - Click the reference to read the verse in its full chapter
  • Bible version - Which translation the verse is from

Managing Collections

Editing Collections

Update your collection details:
  1. Navigate to Collections page
  2. Find the collection you want to edit
  3. Click edit/settings icon
  4. Update the name or other details
  5. Save changes
Editing a collection updates its name and metadata but does not affect the verses stored within it.

Deleting Collections

Remove collections you no longer need:
1

Locate Collection

Find the collection you want to delete.
2

Click Delete

Click the delete button (typically a trash icon).
3

Confirm Deletion

Confirm that you want to permanently delete the collection.
Deleting a collection permanently removes it and all verses within it. This action cannot be undone.

Managing Individual Verses

Removing Verses

Remove individual verses from a collection:
  1. Open the collection containing the verse
  2. Find the verse you want to remove
  3. Click the remove button (typically an X or trash icon)
  4. The verse is immediately removed from the collection
Removing a verse from a collection doesn’t delete the verse from the Bible or from other collections where it might be saved.

Viewing Verse Context

Jump from a saved verse to its full chapter:
1

Open Collection

View the collection containing your saved verse.
2

Click Verse Reference

Click on the verse reference (e.g., “John 3:16”).
3

Read in Context

You’re taken to the Bible reading page with the verse highlighted in its full chapter.

Organizing Your Verses

Best Practices

Tips for Effective Collections

  • Use descriptive names: “Encouragement” is better than “Collection 1”
  • Keep collections focused: Themed collections are easier to use than catch-all lists
  • Regular maintenance: Review and update collections periodically
  • Multiple collections: Don’t hesitate to save the same verse in multiple relevant collections
  • Note-taking: Consider using the Notes feature alongside collections for deeper study

Collection Strategies

Group verses by topic or theme:
  • Love and Compassion
  • Wisdom and Guidance
  • Promises of God
  • Commands and Instructions

Privacy and Storage

Your collections are:
  • Private - Only visible to you when signed in
  • Secure - Stored securely in the Convex database
  • Persistent - Available across all your devices
  • Backed up - Protected by automatic database backups
Collections are tied to your user account. Sign in from any device to access your saved verses.

Next Steps

Enhance your Bible study with other features:
